3001: The Final Odyssey is the final book in the odyssey series. In this book a thousand year old astronaut wakes up from a frozen sleep, which he went into a thousand years ago in the first book. He learns of all the discoveries and adventures that have happened since and has a few adventures of his own. In this final book you learn finally what happens to HAL and Dave and learn about the mysterious beings that created the monoliths.
