Alice the Brave by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
A month before eighth grade begins, Alice McKinley has to face certain fears that she has been worried about since, well let’s just say forever. What she is afraid of is deep water. In August everyone goes to Mark Stedmeister’s swimming pool everyday so she is panicked. Meanwhile Elizabeth and Pamela, Alice’s two best friends, take care of their own problems and don’t have time to help her. Life is changing for everybody except for Alice. Bravery starts step by step by step. Later on Alice learns that a brother, a father, and some friends may help a lot.
