My Brother Sam is Dead by James Collier

MY BROTHER SAM IS DEAD is a great book about the Revolutionary War. It is exciting, sad, and interesting. It’s about a family whose sixteen year old son joins the war. While he’s away, many awful things happen to the family. The father is killed by raiders and some of the twelve year old son’s friends are killed by the British. My favorite part was when the older brother came home and butchered the family cow for a meal and was punished. Find out what else happens by reading this great book!

Chicken Soup for the Cat & Dog Lovers Soul by Jack Canfield

Chicken Soup for the Cat & Dog Lovers Soul is an inspiring book about the relationships of dogs and their owners. This book has all different type of series. It has chapters on death, dogs as teachers, the bond between owner and pet and etc… I have to say that this book made me cry in one chapter. It was about a dog that was very old and had cancer on the back of its neck, so the owner decided that it was time for him to go. There are other sad stories in this book but you would need to read more and have this book take you on a life turning journey.

Dial L for Loser by Lisi Harrison

In our school library they have the first clique book but they don’t have my favorite. I read the series of the Clique and this is my favorite. It is my favorite because the three girls are best friends and they go to Hollywood and become enemies. One of the three gets to be a movie star and the other two become reporters. There are two other girls that had two stay home and right now they are having a better time then the other three.

BRIAN'S WINTER by Gary Paulsen

It all starts of with a boy named Brian who has to learn how to survive all alone in the freezing cold winter. He has to learn how hunt food and use the fur to make clothes. For example in one part of the book he has to kill a little rabbit to survive. Brian ate the flesh on that sorrowful day. Although he feels that it’s horribly mean to kill an innocent creature, that’s the way the cycle goes. Read the rest of the book to know the whole part of Brian’s journey in the cold winter.

This book is so great that it will keep you reading it for days! Girls will especially like it. In this book you can realize what many girls go through in teenage situations, and how your friends help make growing up a whole lot easier. It's amazing what girls go through, and how friends help you out, by making you laugh, or just talking to you, ,or just by doing the stupid things that your friends do to make you smile.
Like when Sophie breaks up with her boyfriend and she is really sad, her best friends help her out and make her feel better.

I loved this book. It is about how middle school really is like when Erin likes a cute guy or the time when she punched the girl she really hates because she called her a puppet. The reason was because she followed her friend everywhere and this year they were put in different tracks. But Erin was kind of glad because she knew that if her friends was in a different track she would want to get the cute guy for herself. The other thing that the book is about is that she is worried that the guy she likes will not like her because she has big feet that are good for something like playing soccer but not for something’s like dancing. The other thing that this book is about is that she entered the club and the guy she likes is in it. See what happens next.

The Cookcamp By: Gary Paulsen

The Cookcamp
By: Gary Paulsen

The Cookcamp is about a little boy. In the book he was named “The boy”. First he lived with his mother and father until his father left for war. His mother wanted to stay home by herself with his uncle. However, it was not his uncle. His mother was just a liar, because that was her new boyfriend. She wanted to spend time with him so he sent the little boy out to his grandmother. The grandmother lived in a campground. The campground had many workers that were very hungry. Some of them were very gentle. When the boy was down because of his mother, they would comfort him. After the long hard days of work, the workers would come in the Cookcamp which was run by his grandmother. Sometimes they would actually scare the young boy because of their size. At night his grandmother would read him books and comfort him with a nice glass of milk. One scary day, one of the workers broke a leg and he was rushed to the hospital leaving the boy with the rest of the workers. Read the wonderful book to see what happens next…

Fate brings the two together when Claire moves to Massie’s guesthouse because their fathers were “college friends”. Massie’s mother and father are desperate for the girls to be friends. Massie can’t believe her parents want her to become friends with someone who wears Gap overalls. Claire will not, under any circumstances, be friends with a stuck-up rich girl. Read the book to find out if Massie will let Claire into her oh so exclusive clique and if Claire “the new girl” will be … popular?
