HATCHING MAGIC by Ann Downer

Hatching Magic
One of the most disappointing things you sometimes encounter when exploring the world of reading is a book with the most fantastic and interesting title one could ever imagine, topped off with a vivid cover and the writer being one of your favorite authors, but when you open it up, it’s not quite as exciting and suspenseful as you had hoped. These letdowns can be bypassed and even ignored by an experienced reader, but to a first timer, it may turn them away from the wide world of books. If you get started on a great book, you will have no such fears. Hatching Magic will live up to your expectations and surpass them, here is a little bit more on this classic fantasy novel that will have you coming back to read it again and again.
This book takes place in modern day Cambridge, Massachusetts. A medieval wizard, Gideon, has traveled to this time through a bolt-hole in search of his wayward wyvern, Wycca (think small dragon with parrot beak) that has been looking for a place to lay its egg. Meanwhile, Theodora Oglethorpe is stuck spending summer vacation at home, while her dad is on a business trip and her best friends all out of town. She happens to be addicted to wyverns, magic, and dragons, and somehow gets possession of a mysterious item that holds the key to tracking Wycca down. To complicate things even more, Gideon’s evil half brother, Kobold, is on the loose with his demons and vying for revenge over a long past feud. How will this mixed up tale turn out in the end? Read Hatching Magic, by Ann Downer to find out.
