IT'S NOT EASY BEING MEAN by Lisi Harison

What kind of books are you into? Well, if you are into suspense and humor then you will love the book It’s Not Easy Being Mean by Lisi Harison. The book is about Massie Block and her best friends called the Clique or the Pretty Committee, returning to the school OCD (Octavian Country Day). In the book some of the 7th grade girls, including Massie and her best friends, get a video from an 8th grade alpha named Sky Hamilton. Interestingly, the video tells the girls about a hidden key which they have to find. Whoever finds the key would be lead to a secret room in the school in which to hang out. There is one condition: confidentiality is of the utmost importance. None of the girls can talk to anyone about the secret key. From hereon the book holds you in suspense, but not without a lot of laughs. The book has also many funny parts. One of my favorite parts was when Massie, Dylan, and Alicia attempt to look pretty at a Tuesday afternoon soccer practice. The girls arrive wearing skirts and pretty tops. The coach was appalled and gave them five minutes to cover themselves up with towels. If they didn’t make it within five minutes, the whole team would have to sit out on Sunday’s game. “The only thing harder than getting in is staying in.” Will the Pretty Committee find the key and save their reputation for 8th grade? Well, you will have to read the book to find out.

IF A TREE FALLS AT LUNCH PERIOD BY GENNIFER CHOLDENKO

If a Tree Falls at Lunch Period is a fantastic novel about two kids, Kristen, and Walk. For Kristen, life is just getting worse and worse, but her weight isn’t the only problem. Her parents might be getting a divorce; they barely utter a word to each other each day. That’s not all though. Her best friend in the whole world, Rory, has decided to try to be friends with some of the more popular people, even if that means being loyal to the snobby Brianna Hanna-Hines, and giving up her friendship with Kristen. At least she has her younger genius sister, Kippy, and her new friends to count on.
Walk, on the other hand, while being raised by a single mom, is an African American in his new white private school. The only reason he was sent there in the first place was that his mom thought he would turn out to be a screw-up, just like his cousin. Although he and his new friend Matteo are becoming very close pals, he can’t understand why Matteo will do absolutely anything Brianna wants him to.
When Kristen discovers one of her father’s secrets, her life, and Walk’s life get pretty twisted…

Patiently Alice By: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

I think this is a great book because it is about a girl that her name is Alice. I feel bad for her because her mom died and her dad is getting married again. Her bother sometimes is mean to her and sometimes cares about her. I really like this book because the author really hooked me because she tells a lot of details about this book. She also wrote a lot of interesting stuff in this book. Alice best friends are Elizabeth and Pamela. Alice really wants long hair because she thinks having long hair is pretty. The beginning of the book was good but I like the end more because I thought it was more interesting. Patrick is Alice’s boyfriend and they are going to break up but, at the end they are really are not so that is why I think the end better. At the beginning Alice talks about her mom and I think that is sad because when a mom dies it is sad but then her dad is getting married again. she is not really sad because she always wanted a mother and now was going to get one. Alice goes to camp but things happen...find out what Latisha does to Alice. I think this is a really good book. This book is the best book I ever read.

JACK LONDON A BIOGRAPHY by Daniel Dyer

I chose the book Jack London a Biography by Daniel Dyer because I read a book he wrote called THE WILD LIFE. It was interesting because it was about a man lost in Antarctica. Jack London wrote 40 books before he died. Jack lived in West Oakland where he lived from 1888 to 1890. I thought it was impressive that Jack wrote 40 books before he died. He had trouble writing some of his books because he didn’t know how to write some words. I also learned that Jack only attended one year of high school. Jack also had a 30-foot sailboat that he used for hunting ducks. He also had two daughters by his first wife. He got married on April 23, 1907. So if you like to read a great Biography of any of your favorite authors or even Jack London, you’ll enjoy this book.

GARFIELD BEEFS UP by Jim Davis

I read Garfield Beefs Up by Jim Davis. This book is so funny and it has tons of funny jokes. It’s a story about Garfield, his owner Jon, and his lovable dog Odie. Each page is a different story and sometimes it continues the story. Also Garfield tells such a funny joke about anything in that book. Trust me, it’s going to be a laugh. Mostly it makes fun of Garfield’s weight. The book shows him on front doing exercise. But trust me he will never do that. So it’s a funny and confusing book.
