A CHILD CALLED IT by Dave Peltzer

This autobiography by Dave Peltzer is based on the terrible life he lived with his druggy mother who believed that he was worth nothing. I can still remember her hardened words that had not come from the booze and liquor but had escaped from her hateful heart. This story is written from Dave’s heart and this was probably only half of the abusing situation. I’m quite sure you will cry your eyes out just like I did because it was so sad and on top of that it was true. I would suggest that you read this novel and learn how he survived.

I liked the book but I also thought it was very heartbreaking. I thought it was heartbreaking because his selfish mom always treated him badly. Example: One day he came home from school and his mom just started yelling and screming at him because he didn't do the laundry in the morning before school. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in sad books.

Well I did read A Child Called IT! This book was sad becuase it was horrible seeing what Dave's mother did to him! If I thought it was horrible reading about Dave, imagine how he must of felt! On the other hand, this book is just a book about a mistreated child! Even his own mother doesn't call him by his first name so instead she calls him "IT"! This book also tells about what Dave did in order to eat and survive! When I first read this book it was awful to read about all the horrible events! For example when Dave snuck out of schhol just to go eat some of the frozen food in the cafetiria, but then when he got home his mom made him throw up in order to see if he had eated! Well he had that day, he ate the frozen food so fast that he threw up, but then his mom told him to eat what he had hrown up!

I liked this book a lot, but it was really emotional and sad.You would have a lot of guts to read the book because it was sad and nasty. The mother did horrible things to the child and he would go to school scared and hurt. The teachers were worried about him.

This is one of the most heart breaking books I have ever read, every word touched me, and I cried through so much of it. Dave's courage and will for life is very humbling. I could never imagine putting a child through that amount of torment and abuse, let alone my own flesh and blood. What a terrible shame that he had to suffer so much of that alone.
