The Golden Compass is an exciting book about a girl who knows more than almost anybody in the world. She has an Alitheometer (a truth teller) which tells her if people are friends or enemies. It also helps her make the right decisions. There are people who are after her called The Goblers who cut away demons (which are life long pets who before puberty can change but after they take the form of one creature). I very much enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

I really ant to see this movie but it seems like the book is more interesting. Im going to read the book first. Nice blog!

Lyra Belacqua is a girl who lives in a world very different from ours. In her world every human being has a companion who is a magical creature that can change into any animal they choose until they get to puberty. Suddenly Lyra’s best friend gets kidnapped by the General Oblation Board, the Gobblers. The Gobblers are a group of people who take children and cut away something very dear to them. Her adventure goes from running away from the Gobblers to going on a rescue mission for all the children who have been kidnapped. Follow Lyra on her adventure to the north with witch clans and armored bears. I’d say my favorite part is when Lyra learns a big secret about her family. You can learn about that secret and many other things if you read The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman.
