Kate and Marylin have been friends forever, but now they are starting middle school, and their frienship starts to grow appart. Marylin becomes a cheerleader, and is popular and interested in boys. On the other hand, Kate is with the unpopular people, and is just fine with it. Marylin starts ignoring and being mean to Kate, even though she doesn't want to. Kate finally meets the perfect friend, Paisley. She loves to read, just like her, and she is the sweetest person ever. But then she has to transfer to another school. Marylins friend, Mazie, tells her to write a note from Robbie, the cutest guy in school. It is supposed to ask Kate if she want's to go out with him. Mazie is sure she will say yes, even though he would ditch her. Marylin doesn't want to be mean to Kate, so she doesn't give her the note, but she tells Kates mom to tell Kate that it is a joke. Kate understands what Marylins message is, so when Robbie asks her out, she says no. Everyone stares at her, and she becomes popular all of a sudden. People start saying that Kate is a nice person, and people even said she was cute. Kate doesn't know what to say, but when Marylin calls her, she and Marylin know exactly what to say.

When I read the book "The Secret Language of Girls" I felt as if I could really relate to the characters because of all their problems they have through out the book. My favorite part of it was when Kate and Marylin become friends again although they do not exactly have the same interests anymore. One part I do not like is when Paisley moves away because Kate becomes lonely again. Overall, this was one of the best books I ever read

My favorite part of this book is when Kste and Marylin's friendship is truely put to the test. Marylin is now a cheerleader and has new friends, such as Mazzie. One day while Mayrlyn is at Mazzie's house Mazzie deciedes to puul a prank; and she chooses Kate, Marylin's old best friend to be the victim. The prank will be that Mazzie will ask Robbie (a popular boy) to write a fake note to Kate asking her out. Kate will say yes and make a totall fool of herself. Marylin is givin the note to put in kate's mailbox. Marylin apend her whole night aganizing over whether she should put the note in Kate's mailbox, if she doesn't her new popular friends will ditch her, but if she does Kate will hate her. The next morning the note is gone, because Marylin's brother says he saw the note and delivered it. Marylin panics and calls Kate, although Kate is note home she gives Kaye's mom the message "it's a joke". Kate realizes that "it's a joke" is about the letter, so she tells Robbie no! Marylin realizes that she still is Kate's friend even though she is popular, but wonders if Kate will understand that.
