MIDNIGHT RIDER by Joan Hiatt Harlow

MIDNIGHT RIDER by Joan Hiatt Harlow
I read the book Midnight Rider. It is about a girl named Hannah Andrews, and takes place during the time leading up to the Revolution. She was sent away by her aunt to work as an indentured servant for General Gage. She is sent to be the general’s niece’s, Meg, chambermaid. She befriends Meg and the stable boy, Caleb. She also meets up with her friend, Will, who her aunt sold Hannah’s horse, Promise, to. Dressed as “Hans”, Hannah rides at night on Promise and earns the dangerous name, the Midnight Rider. One day she over hears a plan to march on her home town, Salem. Together Hannah and Promise risks everything to warn the people of Salem. Her plan is successful, but Will is accused of being the Midnight Rider. She admits that she is, not Will, and they both are sent back home.
