MCKENDREE by Sandra Belton
Tilara has been raised by her preacher father and boy is he strict. She has to dress a certain way and read only books approved by him and she is getting sick of it! Finally, one summer he allows her to take the train alone to visit her aunt in the South. She can’t wait, but is disappointed to find out her aunt expects her to go to work with her at an old peoples' home. It turns out to be more fun than she thought. Read MCKENDREE to find out about Tilara’s adventures there.

This was a great book. I read it too, the father was very mean I would be terrified to have a father like him. The books she read were amazing. They were very hard to read.
