CAST TWO SHADOWS by Ann Rinaldi

The American Revolution has come to Camden, South Carolina. The story is about Caroline Whitaker’s father who has been dragged to prison. He was taken to prison because he refused to pledge allegiance to the king, and her brother Johnny is away fighting for the Loyalists. So she, her mother, and her sister are confined to an upstairs chamber while British Colonel Lord Francis Rawdon occupies their spacious plantation house. Caroline is still heartbroken that her friend Kit was hanged to death. She also has to plead to Lord Rawdon to take her father out of jail. A girl named Jade is unable to cook Rawdon a meal so they have to go searching for someone who can cook a she-crab soup. Have you ever wondered what it would be like in the time of America’s Revolution? Well this book will take you back in time so you can find out how it felt to be in the revolution. You can find out that the revolution was a hard time for some families, like the time when the British policemen took away Caroline’s father away because he was a rebel. If you like to read historical fiction books then this book is for you.
