Spirits and Spells by Bruce Coville

The book I read was Spirits and Spells it was about a group of kids that make up a game. A boy in the group named Travis wanted to try their new game he had them play in an old deserted mansion believed to be haunted. When they go in Travis waits in the library while the rest of the group goes to find the items required to play the game. The game says they all have new names and magical powers. Travis played tricks on the rest of the group with scary items. Then the joke became real and now everything is going wrong there is a ghost in the house that was once a tape recorder.
